Position: Network Specialist 2026/2027 SY

Network Specialist I. General Description

Configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot district data network, telephone, and voicemail equipment and connections; evaluate network efficiency and work with technology director to plan upgrades and improvements.

II. Qualifications
  • AA degree or equivalent professional experience supporting converged networks consisting of video, voice, and data.
  • Three years experience in network maintenance, with at least one year in maintenance and troubleshooting of TCP/IP networks serving multi-platform clients.
  • Knowledge of low voltage cabling, distribution systems, and related equipment.
  • Working knowledge of intercom systems, intercom networks, synchronized clocks, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with configuration and maintenance of managed switches, routers, wireless access-points, controllers and firewalls.
  • Experience with Cisco CUCM VoIP telephone and messaging systems.
  • Working knowledge of Apple desktop and laptop hardware, Apple iOS, and Jamf Pro software integration on Mac OS X clients very helpful.
  • Able to lift and carry 80 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must pass a background check upon employment.
III. Duties And Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair network problems related to connectivity, software, and security issues. Maintain electrical power, battery back-up systems, switches, routers, and LAN connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot, configure, and maintain district digital, analog, and VoIP telephone systems and voicemail system.
  • Troubleshoot, configure, and maintain district cell phones, smartphones, and related contact databases.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for networked systems and equipment, including software licenses, and network logical and physical designs.
  • Configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot intercommunication network and equipment. Assign zones and bell schedules as needed as well as change date/time.
  • Test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all low-voltage cabling. Act as primary contact for vendor installation of cabling projects.
  • Maintain telco/server racks, cans, and closets, as well as battery back-up systems, cable management systems, and network cabling infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot, configure, and maintain MATV racks, video head-end equipment, video distribution equipment and related networks.
  • Troubleshoot, configure and maintain CCTV, DVR, analog and digital video equipment and networks.
  • Assist with vendor and product selection as related to networks, intercom systems, telephone systems, and video systems.
  • Assist with training in the use of network resources.
  • Assist other technology staff with support and maintenance of computers, servers, printers, and other technology as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
