Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for performing advanced mechanical maintenance and repairs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime through expert troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced mechanical diagnostics and repairs on manufacturing equipment, including:
    • Extrusion and converting machinery
    • Rollers, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and conveyors
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
    • Cutting, winding, laminating, or packaging systems
  • Respond quickly to unplanned equipment downtime and production-critical breakdowns
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and longevity
  • Accurately complete maintenance work orders and document repairs, labor, and parts usage in CMMS systems
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and rebuilds as needed
  • Support scheduled maintenance activities, shutdowns, and line changeovers
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruptions and improve equipment performance
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of extrusion, converting, film/plastics, or packaging equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Understanding of PLC-related troubleshooting (mechanical support)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or reliability programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Qualifications

Education/

Experience:

High school diploma or GED required (technical degree preferred).

  • 5–10 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems in a production environment
  • Experience working with CMMS platforms and maintenance tracking
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Ability to prioritize production-critical work under pressure
  • Effective communication with production and engineering teams
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Work Environment
  • Industrial manufacturing facility
  • May involve exposure to heat, machinery, noise, and shift-based coverage
  • Overtime and on‑call support may be required during emergencies or shutdowns
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, and lift for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and machinery
  • Ability to frequently lift and move items up to 50 pounds
