Responsibilities
Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and machinery, including chainsaws, saw cutting machines, tampers, power tools, and utility vehicles.
Performs maintenance and repairs on City roadways, sidewalks, right-of-ways, and other infrastructure with general labor duties daily.
After-hours on‑call work, as well as occasional night and weekend hours, are required.
Collaborates with other divisions/departments and performs related duties as assigned.
Maintains roadways by cleaning away debris and waste, repairing potholes, crack sealing, and road patching with hot asphalt.
Works closely with crew members to complete tasks directed by the Team Lead and/or the Supervisor.
Maintains and repairs streets, parking lots, curbs, gutters and sidewalks, and ADA‑compliant ramps. Sets forms and performs concrete pours and finishing.
Performs skilled, and semi‑skilled landscape construction, maintenance, and repair work in an assigned area of responsibility. Maintains rights‑of‑way landscape, undeveloped properties, and alleys. Trims trees, bushes, chops, and applies herbicides to destroy weeds. Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs irrigation systems.
Operates service trucks, gas‑powered machines, lift gates, landscape equipment, and power tools.
Accurately documents and updates work order information through software.
Assists with setting up traffic control and work zones.
Maintains vehicles and equipment.
Follows all safety rules and regulations, keeps work area and equipment in safe operating condition; reports safety hazards, traffic problems, equipment problems, and emergency matters.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- A High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in construction or maintenance‑related fields.
- A valid Arizona Operator’s Driver’s License or the ability to obtain at the time of hire.
- Work Zone Traffic Control Certification (must be obtained within twelve months of hire).
- Certified Flagger (must be obtained within twelve months of hire).
- Applicator License with categories of Right‑of‑Way and Turn/Ornamental (preferred).
