Field/Service Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Summary
Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer’s site. We are looking for a talented Field Service Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Avondale, AZ. We offer up to $9000 sign‑on bonus, relocation, competitive pay and benefits.
Responsibilities- Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop.
- Perform maintenance and repairs utilizing diagnostic tools.
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
- Engage in ongoing development and certifications on new and existing Cummins products.
- Maintain own tools.
- Completes complex internal engine repairs.
- Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls.
- Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools.
- Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components.
- Mentor junior technicians, including technical support and documentation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card.
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain DOT hours of service.
- Experience working at customer sites in the mining industry.
- Ready to work rotational shift with extended hours, nights and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license with a 5‑year motor vehicle report free of major violations.
- Pass a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and meet DOT driving regulations, including Hours of Service and use of an Electronic Log Booking Device.
- Minimum 3 years driving experience.
- Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older.
- Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
- Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
- Locally valid driving permit.
- Position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Significant field service work experience.
- Expert‑level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred).
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
