Equipment Operator - Solid Waste; Bulk Trash

Job Description

The Bulk Trash Equipment Operator drives, operates, and maintains assorted equipment and machinery, including rear-loader and side-load refuse vehicles, tractors, backhoes, and other heavy equipment. Primary assignments include collecting uncontained bulk trash. Secondary assignment includes assisting solid waste residential services in collecting contained trash and recycling materials. The operator also works with other divisions and departments and may perform related duties as assigned or required.

This position may require overtime to meet business needs.

• Operate solid waste vehicles and equipment in support of daily bulk trash operations, solid waste, and recycling routes, including side loader, rear loader, and brush truck.
• Operate other equipment such as a tractor, street sweeper, loader/backhoe, or similar vehicles.
• Comply with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and regulations by conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining equipment, performing spot checks, checking fluids, fueling vehicles, and ensuring all parts are functioning properly.
• Assemble and repair plastic waste containers by installing or replacing wheels, axles, and lids.
• Deliver containers to customers.
• Complete daily work logs and prepare paperwork necessary for daily operations.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• One (1) year of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver’s License and a current DOT medical examination certificate required.
