I. General DescriptionThe Transportation Router/Supervisor is responsible for designing, coordinating, and supervising safe and efficient student transportation routes for the district. This role combines routing logistics with daily operational oversight, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, timely service, and effective communication among drivers, schools, and families.
II. Qualifications1. Must have a High School diploma.
2. Must possess/maintain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (upon employment).
3. Background clearance (upon employment).
4. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
5. Experience in school transportation, logistics, or fleet operations.
Preferred
1. Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.

3. Proficiency with routing software and basic computer applications
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
5. Knowledge of transportation safety regulations and best practices
IV. Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervision & Operations
Assist in the development and implementation district wide transportation protocols for route operations, safety procedures, incident response, and data based decision-making to ensure efficient and compliant transportation services.Supervise bus drivers and bus aides, including monitoring performance and attendance.Assist with hiring and evaluating drivers and bus aides.Coordinate daily transportation operations, including dispatch, scheduling drivers and staff who serve as backup drivers for route coverage and substitutionsRespond to and resolve operational issues such as delays, breakdowns, or staffing shortages.Collaborate with district leaders, principals, and school teams to ensure alignment of supports and priorities.Communicate clearly with families, community partners, and external agencies as appropriate.Assist drivers in submitting vehicle repair tickets.Monitor fuel levels at the pumping station and coordinate fuel orders as needed to maintain adequate supply.Receive and verify fuel deliveries for accuracy and compliance.Monitor fuel pumping equipment and coordinate maintenance or repairs as necessary.Oversee annual environmental inspections of fuel tanks and ensure all required documentation is completed and submitted.Routing & Planning
Develop and maintain daily bus routes and schedules for elementary students using routing software and district SIS (student information system).Optimize routes for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.Adjust routes in response to enrollment changes, road conditions, construction, and special programs.Ensure compliance with state and local transportation regulations.Safety & Compliance
Promote and enforce student transportation safety standards and procedures.Investigate accidents, incidents, and complaints; prepare required reports.Ensure drivers follow district policies and state/federal transportation laws.Communication & Customer Service
Communicate route changes, delays, and important updates clearly and promptly.Address parent and school concerns in a professional and timely manner.Data & Reporting
Maintain accurate routing data, student ridership records and driver logs.Prepare reports related to route efficiency, mileage, and operational performance.Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
