Job Description

TYPE OF POSITION: Part time, 15-25 hours/week, school year .

The Instructional Aide reports to and is supervised by the school librarian and/or the Administrative Assistant in the Principal’s office. He/she is primarily responsible for assisting in supervision of the library and of students using ancillary spaces within the school.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must minimally have the following:

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with children and adults.
  • Ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents, and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS which include but are not limited to:

  • Provide supervision of students using ancillary spaces (including the library).
  • Provide direction and/or redirection to support students following school norms and expectations.
  • Supervise and maintain ancillary spaces (including the library).
  • Provide assistance to the school librarian and other school staff.
  • Supervise students during transitions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff.
  • Perform related duties as may be designated by the Administrative Assistant to the Principal, Principal, or school librarian.
