Job Purpose

Senior Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Specialist. You will work with HSSE to develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines. Regular travel to our facilities in Devens and Newburyport is a must.

Key Accountabilities
  • Work with the Director of HSSE to develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
  • Lead by example to establish an industry-leading culture of health and safety.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to policies and regulations.
  • Ensure everyone in the company complies with company HSSE policies and government regulations.
  • Develop and assist in implementation of work instructions and SOPs for employee usage.
  • Provide input into a Continuous Improvement Plan for safety and the work environment.
  • Keep abreast of industry standards, regulations, best practices, and laws applicable to safety and the work environment.
  • Collaborate with all employees at all levels to determine safety needs.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Monitor compliance with policies and regulations by inspecting employees and operations.
  • Investigate incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures.
  • Champion the Vulcan Forms Near Miss Program.
  • Provide in‑house training for PIVs (fork truck, scissor lift, boom lift).
  • Create and perform audits as needed.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years proven experience in an industry setting with the majority of the job related to HSSE responsibilities.
  • Proven experience as a successful HSSE practitioner.
  • Ability to work off shifts for training and observations.
  • Ability to travel between facilities as needed.
  • Ability to provide training to individuals or groups.
  • Must have experience with combustible dusts and associated OSHA and NFPA regulations.
  • Strong understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies.
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General knowledge of waste streams and recovery systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Laser experience to be Laser Safety Officer.
  • Experience with PIV (fork truck, scissor lift, boom lift).

Vulcan Forms offers a competitive salary and equity package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Vulcan Forms provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; generous paid time off; and a 401(k) plan with company match. The annual base salary range for this position is $92,000–$127,000.
