Overview

The RAC’s Service, Maintenance and Repair (SMR) division is a fast‑growing part of the organization that delivers planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members’ driveways and workplaces.

As a Mobile Vehicle Technician you will work through a scheduled list of jobs, providing routine servicing, diagnostics with advanced mobile equipment, in‑depth repairs, member advice and vehicle safety checks. You’ll use a fully equipped van and RAC tools to ensure high‑quality work.

• Competitive base salary of £40,178, increasing to £44,385 with guaranteed overtime, with on‑target earnings up to £52,000.
• Full‑time 40‑hour week; core hours 8:30 am‑5:00 pm; one in four Saturdays.
• Option to opt‑in for guaranteed overtime at £30 per hour.

• Carry out scheduled routine servicing.
• Perform diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Execute in‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspections.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

• Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

• Full tool kit, fuel card, uniform and advanced diagnostics.
