Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced strategic and hands-on Manufacturing Plant Manager to lead our Sage Rod Manufacturing team on Bainbridge Island. This is a rare opportunity to take the helm of a world-class production facility and drive innovation in a company that values craftsmanship, community, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the Research & Development (Product) team and Manufacturing Engineering team to identify and implement the most effective, efficient, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing methods.

The ideal candidate will need a strong background in lean manufacturing and possess exceptional people skills. This role is critical in driving operational efficiency, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and productivity. We are a people-first organization and recognize the greatness in our products stems from our people. This role reports directly to the site Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize data and KPIs to monitor performance, identify resource constraints and drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and streamline workflows to reduce variability and optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, cost, and productivity targets.
  • Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles and visual systems to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall production efficiency.
  • Maintain and enhance structured training programs to ensure employee skill development, adherence to SOPs, and effective cross-training.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors and leads, fostering a performance culture.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Incorporate intentional leadership practices that reflect our commitment to fostering high levels of employee satisfaction where our employees are supported in their development, and their opportunity to pursue their passions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Human Resources to ensure seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development to validate that new products are designed for manufacturing scale, while leading systematic improvements in production efficiency through technology, equipment, and reporting.
  • Ensure effective ERP (D365) utilization for production planning, reporting, and material flow optimization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with lean manufacturing methodologies, continuous improvement initiatives or the Toyota Manufacturing system
  • Proven leadership ability to motivate, mentor, and develop high-performing teams and drive process improvements and establish structured workflows. Experience leading organizational change while maintaining team engagement.
  • Hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset with a data-driven approach.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
