Decatur County Schools seeks a dedicated Literacy Coach to comprehensively support our teaching staff. The Literacy Coach serves as a school-based instructional leader responsible for improving literacy outcomes for students through job-embedded professional learning, instructional coaching, data analysis, and implementation of evidence-based literacy practices aligned with the Science of Reading and Georgia's Early Literacy Act. The Literacy Coach works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and district leaders to build instructional capacity and ensure high-quality literacy instruction for all students.

Principal
WORK CALENDAR:
10 Months- (190 Days)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Master's degree or higher in Reading, Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field
Preferred experience as an instructional coach, lead teacher, intervention specialist, or literacy leader
Experience analyzing assessment data and facilitating professional learning
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
Demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction and student achievement
Holds a professional certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
Literacy endorsement or willingness to obtain literacy coaching endorsement/certification as required by state guidelines within the timeframe set by the district
Must hold or be willing to hold a Tier 1 Certification in Leadership within the timeframe set by the district
Must be professionally qualified under the Every Student Succeeds Act.
Knowledge of curriculum standards and instructional strategies
Knowledge of the Science of Reading, structured literacy practices, dyslexia characteristics, intervention strategies, and Georgia literacy requirements
Knowledge of Coaching Cycles
Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration skills
