Overview
Definition:
Performs a variety of landscape maintenance tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Supervision:
Receives general supervision from higher level supervisory staff.
- Maintain grounds of government owned property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields.
- Cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2,000 lbs).
- Trim hedges and edge around walks and flowerbeds using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.
- Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools.
- Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
- Water lawns during dry periods.
- Pick up and cart away leaves, paper, or other litter.
- Assist in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
- May clean comfort stations, office and workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing.
- Follow oral instructions and all safety standards.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Basic knowledge of:
Landscape maintenance skills, tools, and equipment. - Ability to:
Operate landscape maintenance tools such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers, edgers, and tractors pulling a blower.
- Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. - Experience:
Minimum of one year related experience. - License:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid driver's license.
- Working Conditions:
99% of time is spent working in the elements. Exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, rain, dust and dirt, and noise from equipment. Driving is required. - Environmental Conditions/Hazards:
This position requires exposure to insects, vermin, snakes, poison ivy, slippery slopes, and uneven terrain. All weather conditions. - Physical Conditions:
Job duties are very physical, requiring a lot of movement including lifting/bending, mounting/dismounting equipment, loading/unloading equipment. Ability to lift and manipulate objects up to 80 pounds for distances up to 50 feet, and to carry/operate small equipment up to 25 pounds for extended periods up to two hours between breaks.

March 1, 2026 - November 30, 2026
Monday - Thursday (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM) Days Off:
Friday - Sunday
