POSITION INFORMATION
Baker School District is currently seeking a candidate as a 1.0 FTE Spanish / World Language Teacher at Baker High School beginning the school year. Position is 1.0 FTE.
New hire orientation will be on Monday, August 10, 2026. There will be additional training also that week Tuesday thru Thursday.
Insurance to begin September 2025.
Position SummaryThe High School Spanish / World Languages Teacher is responsible for delivering high‑quality, standards‑aligned instruction that develops students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish and/or other world languages. The teacher fosters cultural awareness, global citizenship, and communicative competence while supporting diverse learners in a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS- Plan and deliver effective, standards‑based world language instruction aligned with district curriculum and state standards.
- Develop students' communicative proficiency using research‑based instructional strategies (e.g., communicative language teaching, proficiency‑based instruction).
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, English learners, and advanced students.
- Create and maintain a classroom environment that supports active engagement, collaboration, and respect for diverse cultures and perspectives.
- Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative measures; provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Integrate instructional technology and digital tools to enhance language acquisition and student engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and grades in accordance with district policies.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and program goals.
- Collaborate with department colleagues and participate in curriculum development, data analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and district‑required trainings.
- Uphold district policies, school procedures, and professional ethics.

- This position requires the candidate to hold or be eligible to hold an Oregon Teaching License with the certification/licensure in Spanish and/or World Languages.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish (and/or other assigned language) in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Knowledge of world language standards and best practices in language instruction.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Develop and maintain classroom environment conducive to effective, engaging and developmentally appropriate learning.
- Ability to assess and differentiate the learning needs of students, seeking the assistance of District specialists as needed.
- Ability to observe and record each child's developmental progress.
- The annual certified salary schedule is $61,206 - $88,260 based upon the Certified Salary Schedule (pending negotiations) for 1.0 FTE for employees with an unrestricted teaching license ($45,905 annual salary for employees with an Emergency/Restricted Teaching License). Baker School District allows all licensed teaching experience years within the U.S. (substitute years not included) and education to be used in placing the teacher on the salary schedule.
- Currently, teacher contracts are approximately 175 days with a four‑day work week. Certified staff report for approximately one Friday per month for meetings and PD activities.
