POSITION INFORMATION
Baker School District is currently seeking a candidate for a 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher for high school students grades 9‑12 beginning the 2026‑2027 school year.
New hire orientation will be on Monday, August 10 2026. There will be additional training that week Tuesday through Thursday.
Position SummaryThe Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives, and functions as IEP Case Manager to assigned students. The Special Education Teacher works under the direction of the Building Principal in coordination with the Special Education Director and within the parameters of Federal and State laws, District philosophy, curriculum, policy and procedure.

This position requires the candidate to hold, or be eligible to hold, an Oregon Teaching License through TSPC with a SpEd endorsement.

- Establishes and applies standards of student achievement which are based on educational research, administrative guidelines, community expectations, and the individual abilities of students.
- Develops and provides differentiated instruction which meets individualized student needs and maintains interests.
- Develops and implements individualized plans (IEP/504).
- Communicate effectively with students regarding their educational progress.
- Schedules IEP/student information meetings in a timely manner as prescribed by IDEA.
- Communicates effectively with parents, classroom teachers and other professionals regarding a child's educational and/or behavioral progress.
- Facilitate collaborative and inclusive IEP meetings to maximize participation.
- Implement procedures for gathering diagnostic data.
- Interpret diagnostic data to identify the needs and concerns necessary to develop the individual education plan for the student.
- Utilizes diagnostic data to establish instructional objectives and to plan the program required to implement the objectives and measure the outcome.
- Seek the assistance of his/her supervisor or others in the building or government agencies when a student's behavior problem is beyond what can be handled reasonably in the Special Education/general education classroom.

- The annual certified salary schedule is $61,206 - $88,260 based upon the 2025‑2026 Certified Salary Schedule (pending negotiations) for 1.0 FTE for employees with an unrestricted teaching license ($45,905 annual salary for employees with an Emergency/Restricted Teaching License). Baker School District allows all licensed teaching experience years within the U.S. (substitute years not included) and education to be used in placing the teacher on the salary schedule.
- Currently, teacher contracts are approximately 175 days with a four-day work week. Certified staff report for approximately one Friday per month for meetings and PD activities.

- This position will begin August 2026 for the beginning of the 2026‑2027 school year.
