• Baker School District is currently seeking a candidate for a Temporary 1st Grade teaching position at Brooklyn Primary beginning the  school year. Position is 1.0 FTE for one year only.

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Develop and maintain classroom environment conducive to effective, engaging and developmentally appropriate learning.
• Prepare for assigned classes, and maintain written evidence of preparation.
• Keep lesson plans current and readied for substitute teachers.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques/media to achieve State Standards.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Develop reasonable roles of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law, district and building policy and administrative regulation.
• Regularly assess the accomplishments of students, providing timely feedback and progress reports as required.
• Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
• Meet with students and/or parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day, when necessary, or by direction of building principal and/or superintendent.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings.
• Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals and objectives.
• Provide input into the selection of curriculum, equipment and other instructional materials.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
• Assess and differentiate for the learning needs of students, seeking the assistance of District specialists as needed.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Plan and supervise meaningful assignments for Para Instructional Assistants and volunteers and cooperatively assist in evaluating their performance.
• Utilize technology tools to enhance instruction and communication.
• Fulfill all State and District requirements regarding work samples and assessments.
• Maintain confidentially.
• Responsible for ensuring appropriate cleaning and disposal of body fluids as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• This position requires the candidate to hold, or be eligible to hold an Oregon Teaching License with the proper endorsement.

• ESOL training and endorsement preferred.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues;
• Excellent communication skills;

• Ability to assess and differentiate the learning needs of students, seeking the assistance of District specialists as needed;
• Ability to observe and record each child's developmental progress.

• The annual certified salary schedule for the  school year is $62,736 - $90,467 for 1.0 FTE for employees with an unrestricted teaching license ($47,053 annual salary for employees with an Emergency/Restricted Teaching License). Baker School District allows all teaching experience years within the U.S. (substitute years not included) and education to be used in placing the teacher on the salary schedule.
  
  Currently, teacher contracts are approximately 175 days with a four-day work week. Certified staff report for approximately one Friday per month for meetings and PD activities.

• This position will begin at the start of the  school year in August 2026.
