Position: 2026 - 2027 Grade 4 English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher (Park Ridge Achievement Academy)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Grade 4 English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of literacy development in young learners and a commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment. This position involves creating and implementing lesson plans that build foundational reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while ensuring a positive learning experience for all students.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver high-quality, differentiated English Language Arts instruction that aligns with the district's curriculum and standards.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and independent thinking.
  • Assess student progress regularly through a variety of formative and summative assessments, and adjust instruction as needed to meet individual student needs.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and staff to develop and refine instructional practices.
  • Incorporate technology into daily lessons to support student learning and engagement.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in literacy instruction and technology integration.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in LA for Elementary Education or enrollment in an approved alternative certification program.
  • Proven experience teaching English Language Arts to elementary-aged students (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of literacy development, including phonics, reading comprehension, writing, and grammar.
  • Experience with or openness to integrating technology into the classroom, including educational software, digital tools, and online learning platforms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Passion for fostering a love of reading and writing in young learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.).
  • Familiarity with using interactive whiteboards, tablets, and other tech tools to enhance learning.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and innovate in the classroom to improve student outcomes.
