Salary:
- KCERA Accountant I: $2,507.68 - $2,996.91, paid bi‑weekly
- KCERA Accountant II: $2,912.41 - $3,480.60, paid bi‑weekly
- KCERA Senior Accountant: $3,365.64 - $4,022.25, paid bi‑weekly
- Written Exam: Will be conducted on July 31, 2026.
- Written Exam (Weight 100%):
Assesses knowledge of financial management, GAAP, GASB, auditing standards, financial statements, bank and securities reconciliations, taxation, payroll laws, actuarial principles, investment products, budgeting.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards KCERA Accountant IEducation and experience which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, and (3) three years of progressively responsible general accounting and/or auditing experience, or (2) years of experience in governmental accounting and/or auditing.
Education and experience which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. If the major is not accounting, at least 15 semester units or 25 quarter units of college‑level accounting courses must have been completed, or evidence of having passed all four parts of the Uniform Certified Public Accountant examination, or possession of a Certified Public Accountant certificate.
- At least four years of progressively responsible full‑time professional‑level accounting and/or auditing experience, or two years of experience at a level equivalent to KCERA Accountant.

Admittance to the examination requires a valid government‑issued photograph identification. Applicants who cannot present proper identification must arrange with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.
A background check may be conducted for this classification.
Following an offer of employment, post‑offer medical and drug screening tests may be required at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made er permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
