A well-established agriculture-focused organization in Bakersfield, CA is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead a team of 4-5 accounting professionals and oversee key accounting operations.
This direct-hire opportunity offers a competitive salary of $90,000-$110,000 plus bonus potential.
Ideal candidates will bring strong accounting knowledge, leadership experience, and advanced Excel skills to support financial reporting, month-end close activities, and process improvements.

Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
- Experience reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
- Preference Agricultural industry experience preferred but not required
- Experience with fixed assets, depreciation, property taxes, and year-end tax support is a plus
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of 4-5 accountants
- Review and approve journal entries, cash deposits, and recurring month-end close activities
- Assist staff with accounting issues, reconciliations, and discrepancies
- Review monthly financial statements and analyze budget-to-actual variances
- Support the Controller and Assistant Controller with research, reporting, and special projects
- Serve as a resource for operational managers regarding financial reporting and accounting questions
- Assist with invoice-related inquiries and Accounts Payable support
- Review balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy of accruals, contracts, payroll taxes, insurance, rent, and other liabilities
- Support year-end tax preparation and compliance activities
- Review and assist with preparation of agricultural and business equipment reporting requirements
- Analyze secured and unsecured property tax obligations and supplemental assessments
- Identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen accounting procedures and controls
- Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting standards
