QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of proper office methods, techniques and procedures; word processing techniques; proper telephone techniques, English usage, grammar, punctuation, spelling and attention to detail.
Must have the skill to learn the operations, procedures, policies and requirements of assigned operational units and apply them with good judgment; learn, interpret and successfully apply District rules, policies and procedures while independently carrying out a variety of technical procedures; operate a variety of standard office machines and equipment.
Applicant must possess the ability to type 45 NET WPM, take non-verbatim notes or minutes and transcribe dictation with speed and accuracy; perform mathematical calculations accurately; maintain efficient record keeping and filing systems, prepare routine reports; coordinate activities and maintain a schedule of events; analyze situations and take appropriate action regarding routine procedural matters without immediate supervision; communicate effectively and tactfully in oral and written forms;
proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator; are also desirable; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Requires two years broad and varied experience in typing and clerical work, the ability to handle busy phones, and work with more than one task simultaneously.
A RECENT (IN-PERSON) FIVE-MINUTE TYPING CERTIFICATE MUST ACCOMPANY APPLICATION TO BE SUCCESSFUL. Certificates must be less than two years old and cannot be completed through an online website. Kern High School District employees who currently work in a position requiring the same or higher minimum typing speed do not need to submit a typing certificate.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION: Under supervision performs a variety of complex and responsible clerical and secretarial duties in support of the day-to-day operations within the operational unit. This position performs moderately complex and responsible functions accomplish a variety of tasks and requires focused attention to detail.
STARTING SALARY: $3,355.56 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 9.5 (to begin as soon as possible)
