The Safety Specialist supports the organization’s safety programs by coordinating incident reporting, tracking workers’ compensation cases, assisting with accommodations, and maintaining accurate documentation. This role requires strong computer skills to manage safety systems, complete reports, and communicate effectively with employees and external partners.

ROLE AND ACTIVITY Computer & Administrative Skills
  • Utilize computer‑based systems to input, track, and analyze safety and injury data.
  • Maintain digital files, reports, and safety documentation with accuracy.
  • Use email, spreadsheets, and databases to communicate, document, and organize safety information.
  • Prepare safety reports, meeting minutes, and training materials using Microsoft Office and other software tools.
  • Assist with claims documentation and communication.
  • Track injury status and follow‑up actions through computer‑based platforms.
Safety Program Support
  • Support Lockout/Tagout recordkeeping (training logs, audits, inspection forms).
  • Assist in scheduling and tracking safety trainings.
  • Help identify trends using digital reports and dashboards.
Accommodations
  • Document accommodation requests and follow‑up actions.
  • Schedule ergonomic evaluations and update computer‑based records.

  • Manages the administrative and documentation side of workplace accommodations.
  • Acts as the first point of coordination for injury documentation and follow‑up communication.
  • Supports the Safety Manager by maintaining compliance‑related documentation (OSHA logs, LOTO binders, audits).

The position involves frequent exposure to nuts and other potential allergens.

The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

The pay range for prospective employees in this role is between $26 and $30 per hour.
