The Tejon Gaming Commission Office Administrator directly supports the Tejon Gaming Commission and provides overall support to the Commission Board in all matters pertaining to the effective and efficient office management of the Tejon Gaming Commission. Office Administrator duties will include the coordination and maintenance of administrative calendars, documents, scheduling, and assisting with special projects as assigned by the Interim Executive Director and Gaming Commission Board.

ROLES

& RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as lead for administrative functions of the Tejon Gaming Commission.
  • Performs administrative assistant duties and those inclusive within the scope of office management, including overseeing purchases, supplies, software, and other essential tools necessary for the efficient running of an office.
  • Performs project and event planning for Commission, including the oversight and managing of the Departmental calendar.
  • Create, format, and edit Word, Excel, Publisher, and/or PDF documents.
  • Assist with budget related projects including annual planning of the budget, preparation and submitting receipts, financials records, and reports on behalf of the Commission.
  • Serves at the discretion of the Commission Board.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must have knowledge of Tribal communities, specifically the Tejon Tribal community or be willing to become knowledgeable.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in exercising sound professional judgment, determination, and persistence.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, typing/word processing, communication, grammatical and composition skills.
  • Must be able to understand and maintain confidentiality of communications.
  • Must work well in a team environment, be a quick learner and have solid time management skills.
  • Must have the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Four-year bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant experience. (preferred)
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license, transportation, and insurance. (required)
  • Knowledge of Tribal Gaming operations and facilities (preferred)
  • Must have an advanced ability in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be personable and polite with ability to use discretion, initiative, and good judgment in the performance of duties.
  • Must be able to work evening hours and weekends on occasion (required)
  • Must pass a background security check prior to employment.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug tests as requested over course of employment.

A list of qualified candidates is created from interviews that may be used to appoint individuals to similar positions within the Tejon Indian Tribe for a period of six months.
