Qualifications
Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and of basic machine duplication methods, processes, materials, and operation and care of machines.
- Skilled at operating office machines with speed and accuracy; capable of operating duplicating machines efficiently and economically.
- Type at a rate of 40 net words per minute.
- Learn and adhere to the operations, procedures, policies, and requirements of the assigned program; prepare and maintain simple records and production reports.
- Read, write, and perform math calculations at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
- Follow oral and written directions independently; establish and maintain effective work relationships.
- One year of typing and general clerical experience, including operation of general duplicating machines, is required.
- Must provide a recent five‑minute typing certificate less than two years old; in‑person certificate only (no online completion). Kern High School District employees currently holding a position with the same or higher minimum typing speed are exempt from submitting a certificate.
- Criminal history check and pre‑employment medical assessment required before employment.
Under supervision, perform a wide variety of responsible and specialized clerical/technical support services and operate duplicating machines to reproduce a variety of printed materials. This job class requires journey‑level clerical duties and knowledge of specialized procedures. Provide accurate and timely completion of duplicating projects and ensure safe and proper operation of the machines.
Compensation and ScheduleStarting salary: $2,815.24 (monthly)
Number of months: 10 (start date: August 5, 2026)
Number of hours: 7 daily (7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
Schedule breakdown: Clerical Specialist 4 hrs (7:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.), Duplicating Clerk 2 hrs (1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.)
