Job Responsibilities- Manages workflow and priorities of each job.
- Verifies estimates are accurate.
- Ensures advisors and technicians have tools, information, and parts needed to perform.
- Assists technicians in developing their skills.
- Understands and keeps abreast of federal, state and local regulations affecting service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
- Ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
- Ensures that all department employees receive appropriate manufacturer training.
- Conducts regular performance reviews for all technicians in accordance with dealership guidelines.
- Assigns repairs to technicians in an equal and fair manner.
- Provides technical support to technicians as necessary.
- Ensures repairs are charged out correctly.
- Checks progress of each repair order throughout the day.
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks; conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Road tests vehicles to quality‑check work performed.
- Accounts for all documents, ensuring none are missing and all are processed correctly.
- Establishes and maintains a customer follow‑up program to confirm satisfaction with the service experience.
- Handles all customer complaints within 24 hours, informing other managers as appropriate.
- Manages department performance using tools such as the daily operating control (DOC), efficiency and productivity control, comeback reports, warranty reports, telephone surveys and monthly forecasts.
- Monitors technicians’ daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
- Monitors shop condition, including cleanliness, safety and the condition of shop equipment.
- Reports problems to the service manager or dealer.
- Ensures the proper care, storage and inventory of special tools.
- Remains abreast of new equipment and tools and recommends purchases.
- Fills in for service advisor and dispatcher when necessary.
- Attends manager meetings as requested.
- Strives for harmony and teamwork within the department and with all other departments.
- Safeguards information system assets by identifying abnormalities, reporting suspicious activity, and contributing to the resolution of cyber‑security problems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a positive outlook and attitude.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Affinity (Class A &
C).
The actual schedule will vary based on many factors, including business needs, customer schedules, and seasonality. Travel out of state for meetings, training, and conferences may be required and will be reimbursed in accordance with Affinity Truck Center’s travel policy.
Physical Requirements- Frequently works inside/outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Occasional exposure to excessive loud noise.
- Frequent exposure to dust, gas, fumes, chemicals, etc.
- Lifts and carries items weighing up to 90 pounds.
- Can twist, bend, stoop, and reach to pick up items from lower shelves and reach for items stored at higher levels.
- Has at least 20/40 visual acuity in each eye with or without correction.
- Can perceive a forced whisper at a distance of 5 feet or less, with or without hearing aids.
- Can enter and exit vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Can climb into and out of trucks using steps or ladders, maintaining three points of contact at all times.
