Position: Field Engineer (Req #: 687)

Job Purpose

Provide on‑site field administration, supervision, and technical management for all construction operations, including direct supervision of foreman, subcontractors, and other construction personnel.

On Site Project Duties
  • Review design documents, shop drawings, and submittals for consistency with contract scope of work.
  • Set‑up job site logistics.
  • Identify, define, and procure required craft and subcontractor services.
  • Monitor project costs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Document daily construction activities.
  • Assist with preparation of CPM schedule.
  • Implement project engineering procedures and other work‑controlling documents.
  • Prepare proposals, change orders, RFIs, and letters of intent as needed.
  • Document change order details and associated cost reporting.
  • Review time cards and process invoices.
  • Maintain good working relationships with field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Adhere to site safety protocols and OSHA safety standards to achieve a “Zero Accident Culture.”
  • Compile contract close‑out documents.
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Estimating Duties
  • Analyze and compile estimate data that impacts labor costs, materials, equipment requirements, location, and other factors to ensure a timely estimate.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and proposed project site conditions; record findings and seek input from Senior Management and field operations for the final project estimate.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with owners.
  • Use existing cost history as a reference to complete estimates.
  • Complete take‑offs to confirm quantities and ensure accuracy of drawings.
  • Assist with development of complete estimates for review by Senior Management and submission to Owner.
  • Physical Requirements

    Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand and walk, lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment

    Office:
    Moderate noise level.
    Job Site:
    Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. Noise level is usually loud.

    Position Requirements

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
    • One (1) year of experience and past internships in the construction industry preferred.
    • Strong computer skills with familiarity in project design, job costing, scheduling, and estimating software.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • Valid California Driver’s License.
    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    Travel Requirements
    • 25% overnight travel.
    • Must be able and willing to drive long distances.
