Skarphol / Frank Associates is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Architect. The architect will be expected to provide oversight across multiple projects types. This position is intended for a licensed architect who can maintain a broader view across multiple projects, provide leadership and mentorship to project teams, and support the firm’s senior leadership in maintaining consistent quality, efficiency, and professional standards throughout the office.

This role is responsible for maintaining design and technical standards, guiding project delivery, reviewing key documentation, and ensuring that projects remain aligned with applicable codes, agency requirements, client objectives, and firm expectations. The Project Architect will work with production staff to provide technical direction, resolve complex architectural and code-related issues, review project progress and quality, and identify risks or coordination concerns before they impact delivery.

• Provide professional architectural services for the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects
• Research, evaluate, and recommend design solutions, products, and assemblies that best meet the needs of our clients
• Analyze code and agency regulations, produce planning and occupancy studies, and prepare design layouts and options
• Coordinate and manage outside consultants as well as delegate to and manage junior technical staff.
• Maintain design schedules, lead on-site construction meetings, prepare reports and update senior leadership team during all phases of a project
• Manage multiple projects at different levels of progress

• Licensed Architect in California – Additional states are welcomed and encouraged
• Proficiency in common CAD programs and 3D modeling required
• 7+ years of experience in design coordination and construction administration
• Knowledge in varying construction methods and full construction documents, building codes, municipal codes, energy codes, client relations, and consultant coordination
• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
• Interest in mixed-use projects, affordable housing, sustainable community development, industrial, commercial, residential, and construction bidding procedures

Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 depending on experience level, qualifications, and needs.
