QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires knowledge of state and District laws, rules and regulations regarding school attendance; basic record keeping methods and techniques; attendance accounting methods and techniques;
English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Must possess the skill to effectively communicate orally and in written form; train, direct and prioritize the work of others; effectively analyze situations and adopt appropriate action; maintain record keeping system and files timely; prepare attendance reports and correspondence; operate standard office equipment including computer terminal, calculator and copy machine; perform accurate mathematical calculations; type accurately; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Must possess the ability to direct, take charge and participate in daily student attendance accounting; train, assign and review the work of subordinates; direct and perform daily attendance accounting work required to keep accurate school attendance records showing attendance of each student by school period; receive students in attendance office; prepare and issue admission slips to class and permits to leave school;
issue tardy slips and maintain record of tardiness; check with parent to verify absences; record student absences on school attendance card and form; report pattern of attendance problem to counselor and assistant principal; prepare school attendance report and update registration lists for changes in enrollment; confer with District office regarding attendance accounting reports, procedures and practices; assist with various clerical duties within the school office when necessary and as time permits;
provide assistance to counselors regarding attendance‑related matters.
Two years of increasingly responsible clerical work, of which at least one year should involve school district experience, or one year as Attendance Clerk with the Kern High School District.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION:To maintain and direct the maintenance of student attendance records and related reports; to wait on students and contact parents, counselors and teachers regarding attendance‑related matters. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision from a school administrator or designee within a framework of standard policies and procedures. Employees in this classification will train, direct and supervise the work of subordinates in a lead capacity.
This job classification exercises responsibility for directing and participating in the accurate compilation and preparation of attendance, accounting information, data and reports.
$3,448.07 (monthly)

8 (daily working hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
