Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements may be contacted immediately if a need arises. Applications remain active for up to two years.

We are soliciting applications for part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary is $67.00 per hour; the rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.

• Bachelor’s degree AND 2 years related professional experience
• OR Associate degree AND 6 years related professional experience
• or the equivalent
• Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree
• The professional experience required must be directly related to the teaching assignment
• Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V §53406)
• Any degree earned outside the United States must be evaluated by an accredited evaluation service
• Demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students

• Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in a supportive learning environment
• Work with students of diverse skill levels, motivations, and goals
• Develop curricula, including online and blended modalities
• Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities
• Communicate effectively, orally and in writing
• Maintain subject‑matter currency
• Assess student learning outcomes
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies
• Commitment to the California community college mission
