Chemistry Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool; PC

Basic Function

The Kern Community College District is soliciting part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors for the Natural Science Department. The successful applicant will demonstrate broad preparation and depth of knowledge in chemistry.

Although specific teaching duties are not enumerated, the applicant will be expected to:

• Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in a diverse environment.
• Work with students across a range of skill levels and goals.
• Develop curriculum and deliver instruction via multiple modalities.
• Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
• Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Maintain subject‑matter currency and assess student learning outcomes.
• Utilize computers and new technologies that benefit the program.
• Demonstrate commitment to the California community college mission.

• Master’s in chemistry; or
• Bachelor’s in chemistry or biochemistry & Master’s in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry; or equivalent.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
• Degrees from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized agency.
