Basic FunctionKern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately if a need arises without having to wait to advertise. If there is an interest within the specific department, applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, and/or division chairs. Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years.
The district is soliciting applications for part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $66.00/hour; hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.
Bakersfield College seeks dedicated, experienced, and motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise to advance the program innovatively. Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence. Candidates will provide instruction in a full range of Health Information Technology and other Allied Health courses as needed. The primary assignment for Health Information Technology courses will be taught online but may include teaching at various locations, times, and modalities.
Bakersfield College offers courses in the greater Bakersfield area, rural communities, correctional facilities, and high schools using traditional, face‑to‑face, online, and interactive broadcasts. Other duties include student recruitment and articulation of programs for Allied Health; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; assessing student learning and program outcomes; and collegial participation in department, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
- Bachelor's degree(s) or higher AND two years of professional experience
- Associate degree(s)
AND six years of professional experience - Or the equivalent
(The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree.)

Desirable Qualifications- Successful teaching of ICD‑10 and CPT courses
- Experience with Canvas or other online learning management system
- Ability and willingness to participate effectively in college committee work and co‑curricular and extra‑curricular activities to support students and the college
- Ability to provide leadership within the program and on college initiatives to improve student learning
- Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administration in California Community Colleges:
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions. Any degree from a country other than the United States must be evaluated by an evaluation service.
