Basic Function
Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary is $66.00 per hour, variable based on assignment type and Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Qualified applicants will be contacted for part‑time adjunct positions for one or more courses in earth sciences.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's degree in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography, or paleontology
- OR Bachelor's in geology AND Master's in geography, physics, or geochemistry
- OR other equivalent combinations of education, experience, and accomplishments (applicants must submit an Application for Equivalency with supporting documentation)
Adjunct pool for part‑time adjunct positions in earth sciences.
Knowledge and Abilities- Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in a diverse environment.
- Support a wide range of student skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
- Develop curriculum, including different modalities.
- Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject matter currency.
- Assess student learning outcomes.
- Use computers and evaluate new technologies that benefit the program.
- Commit to the California community college mission.
