The Kern Community College District accepts applications from part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Qualified applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, or division chairs. Applications remain active for up to two years.
Representative Duties- Provide instruction in a full range of Fire Technology courses.
- Teach at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and use multiple teaching methodologies.
- Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the English department.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency and develop and revise curriculum.
- Use computer and multimedia technology and participate collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of occupational and/or professional experience directly related to the courses taught.
- Associate’s degree and at least six years of occupational and/or professional experience directly related to the courses taught.
- Equivalent qualification combinations may be considered; candidates should request and submit an application for equivalence with supporting documents.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- All degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions. Degrees from outside the United States must be evaluated by an approved credentialing service.
- Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
- Work effectively with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
- Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
- Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency.
- Assess student learning outcomes.
- Know computers and be willing to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
- Commit to the California community college mission.
