French Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool – East Kern Center, Rising Scholars Education Program

Salary: $67.00 Hourly

Department: English (ENGL)

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide instruction in a full range of French courses including Elementary and Intermediate French, as well as other courses as needed, such as distance learning and classes for incarcerated students. Other duties include:

  • Participating in student recruitment and articulation of programs.
  • Maintaining subject‑matter currency.
  • Developing and revising curriculum.
  • Using computer and multimedia technology.
  • Assessing student learning and program level outcomes.
  • Participating collegially in department, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in French, or
  • Bachelor’s in French and a Master’s in another language or linguistics, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Degrees and credits from accredited institutions; foreign degrees must be evaluated.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
  • Ability to work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Ability to develop curriculum, including curricula delivered via different modalities.
  • Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Ability to assess student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
