Representative Duties

The successful applicant will provide instruction in a full range of music courses. Duties may include teaching at multiple campus sites, day or evening, weekend, large, or distance learning classes, and using multiple teaching methodologies. Additional responsibilities include participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Visual and Performing Arts department; maintaining subject‑matter currency; developing and revising curriculum;

utilizing computer and multimedia technology; and collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's in Music
  • Bachelor's in Music and Master’s in Humanities
  • Possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Music at the California Community College level
  • Equivalent education, experience, or accomplishments recognized by the Chancellor’s Office (submit an Application for Equivalence if applicable)
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population
  • Work effectively with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals
  • Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities
  • Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Maintain subject‑matter currency
  • Assess student learning outcomes
  • Utilize computers and be willing to explore new technologies that benefit the program
  • Commitment to the California community college mission
