Job Summary
Junior High Assistant Principal for the school year in the Panama‑Buena Vista Union School District. The position requires an administrative credential and the responsibility for instructional program implementation across student services, counseling, activities, athletics, and discipline.
Responsibilities- Facilitate a safe environment for students and staff.
- Support a professional learning community devoted to student learning, parent involvement, and ongoing improvement.
- Support a school atmosphere that promotes maximum student growth.
- Support a positive image for the school and district.
- Direct student activities and maintain student discipline.
- Implement Board Policies and Administrative Procedures as they relate to the school.
- Maintain the safe operation of buildings and grounds.
- Supervise and evaluate classified staff.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school community.
- Assume duties as site administrator in the principal’s absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Assist in the implementation of a three-tiered model of instruction and intervention for socio‑economically disadvantaged students, English learners, and foster youth.
- Observe instruction by teachers and instructional aides and provide feedback and coaching.
- Assist grade‑level and/or subject‑area teams with assessment administration, data analysis, intervention group formation, and instructional planning.
- Provide professional development and modeling of effective instruction and intervention.
- Provide training for new teachers and support of teachers in district induction programs.
- Provide instruction in reading or math to individuals or small groups of students.
- Valid California Teaching Credential.
- Valid Administrative Services Credential.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited university with major coursework in Education or a related field.
- At least five years of successful classroom teaching and/or coaching experience.
Annual salary range: $117,037 – $141,883 across nine steps; 204 working days per year, eight hours per day. Placement on the schedule is determined by years of administrator experience. $2,500/year stipend for a Doctorate Degree; longevity of $1,500 after 15 years of qualified district service and $3,500 after 20 years. The district contributes up to $19,793 per year toward family dental, medical, and vision insurance and a life insurance plan for employees only.
