Accounting Instructor - Part-time Adjunct Pool

Basic Function

Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Qualified applicants who meet the minimum requirements may be contacted by department supervisors, deans, or division chairs. Applications remain active for up to two years.

We are soliciting applications for part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $66.00 per hour; the hourly rate may vary based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.

• Master’s in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration
• Bachelor’s in business with accounting emphasis or business administration with accounting emphasis or economics with an accounting emphasis AND Master’s in business, business administration, business education, economics, taxation, finance or equivalent
• A bachelor’s degree in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration with a CPA license (alternative qualification)

Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications. Candidates with equivalent qualifications should submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form with supporting documents.

• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population
• Ability to work effectively with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals
• Ability to develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities
• Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Demonstrated ability to maintain subject matter currency
• Ability to assess student learning outcomes
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program
• Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission
