AFTER SCHOOL POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
- Activity Leader: 4 HRS/DAY Between 1:00pm-6:30pm
- TK-K Activity Leader: 5.5 HRS/DAY 12:30-6:30pm w. 30 minutes unpaid break
TITLE:
Activity Leader
REPORTS TO:
Program Director/Site Coordinator
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area such as Education, Social Emotional Learning, Virtual Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Physical Education, Safety, Sanitation and STEAM. Utilizes and actively engages in Workplace.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success:
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Understand and implement Knowledge Library resources and functions. Promote and stimulate program participation.
- Assist in recruiting new members.
- Engage students.
- Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
Ensure a productive work environment:
- Participate in weekly After School Program staff meetings.
- Attend all site meetings.
- Complete Child Protective Services and Mandated Reporting documents.
- Read, sign, and abide by monthly safety topics.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, environment, services, and activities by actively engaging to ensure safety of staff and members.
- Assess programs and the appearance of all areas of the After School Program.
Program Development and Implementation:
- Plan, create, teach, implement, and administer programs, services, and activities for members and visitors.
- Create and submit lesson plans and/or scheduled activities to immediate supervisor as required.
- Read and write without assistance.
- Implement daily lesson plans and scheduled activities.
- Apply BGCKC Youth Development Strategy.
- Provide classroom management.
- Implement and teach transition strategies.
- Provide BGCKC and District positive redirection strategies.
- Utilize District curriculum.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports as directed.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the After School Program at all times.
- Monitor and review ADP on a weekly basis to review, read, and sign documents as provided.
- Follow all BGCKC and individual school district policies and procedures.
- Ability to supervise a minimum of 20 children in a safe environment independently.

- Contribute to environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.
- Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.
- Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and communication practices.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel. Adhere to BGCKC Code of Conduct at all times. - External:
Maintain contact with schools, members' parents, and others to assist in publicizing the After School Program and resolving problems with Club managers.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
REQUIRED:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have proof of High School graduation or GED (Diploma or Transcripts).
- Must provide Negative TB test results or Assessment test completed within the last 4 years.
- Must have at least 48 semester college units/68 quarter units or have a paraprofessional certification.
- Ability to read, write, spell, understand, and assist with math calculations/problems and assist with homework at all grade levels.
- Experience in working with children.
- Knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to effectively interact with the public.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
