Position Description
:
The Department of Kinesiology at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part‑time lecturers.
Applicant pools are used to fill short‑term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as‑needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st.
If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.
Minimum Qualifications
- For physical activity class lecturers:
Certification in a specialty such as personal training, fitness instructor, skilled activity instruction (e.g. swimming, Yoga, etc.), strength and conditioning, and exercise specialist - For kinesiology undergraduate and laboratory lecturers: A Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field
- For Athletic Training lecturers:
Current NATA certification - Demonstrated ability/potential to provide high‑quality education to a diverse student population, including first‑generation and under‑represented college students
- For kinesiology master’s degree courses:
Doctoral degree or master’s degree with substantial teaching experience or scholarship experience or professional certification
Preferred Qualifications
- For physical activity class lecturers: A Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field
- For kinesiology undergraduate, general education, and laboratory lecturers: A Master's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Psychology, or a closely related discipline is preferred
- For PE teaching preparation lecturers: K through 12 PE teaching experience
- Candidates with demonstrated excellence in college teaching in the discipline and/or relevant industry experience and appropriate certification
