ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will:
- Provide instruction in a full range of music courses.
- Teach at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning and using multiple teaching methodologies.
- Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Visual and Performing Arts department.
- Maintain subject matter currency.
- Develop and revise curriculum.
- Use computer and multimedia technology.
- Participate collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
- Master's in Music.
- OR Bachelor's in Music AND Master's in Humanities.
- OR possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Music at the California Community College level; or equivalent.
- Knowledge that certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications; candidates must request equivalence.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning and service to a diverse student population.
- Work with students across a wide range of skills, motivations, academic and vocational goals.
- Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
- Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject matter currency.
- Assess student learning outcomes.
- Know computers and be willing to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
- Commit to the California community college mission.
