Teacher, Restorative Classroom Specialist

Reports to: Principal

• Valid California teaching credential, authorizing service in the area of assignment
• Five years of successful teaching experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with adolescent at‑risk youth
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents, and to respect confidential matters

• Teach students assigned to the Restorative Classroom program in their currently assigned course of instruction
• Communicate with student’s regular schedule of teachers regarding assignments and instruction
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to effective learning and behavior objectives
• Assist site administration in the implementation of the district’s multi‑tiered system of supports (MTSS) within the school
• Facilitate restorative practices with students and staff, including the use of affective statements, affective questions, circle structures, formal conferencing, and reintegration of identified students following behavioral incidents
• Facilitate the acquisition of social/emotional skills for identified students
• Facilitate student goal setting and self‑efficacy to develop motivation for learning and success
• Participate in the school Professional Learning Communities as assigned by site administration
• Develop and maintain a system of student record keeping related to the program
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss the student’s academic and behavioral progress
• Confere with students, parents, teachers, and other staff as needed
• Participate in district, county, and state meetings and trainings as needed or directed by site administration
• Contribute news items of the program to bulletins and other communications from the school
• Model personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability
• Perform other related duties as assigned

$68,292 – $133,656 annually (190 day; maximum salary includes educational stipends)

Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training is required prior to hire and annually thereafter.
