Professional Learning Specialist
Location:
Remote, Bakersfield, CA. The role supports the Kern High School District and requires the employee to reside in Bakersfield or the Central California region. The position includes working onsite in the district four days per week. Travel: daily travel within Central California and occasional overnight travel up to 20%. The role requires a valid Motor Vehicle Driver License and an acceptable driving record.
Compensation:
Base pay is anticipated to be between $65,972 and $85,000 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

- Deliver fee-based, engaging, small and large group presentations, both in-person and virtually, centered on district/school teaching and learning recommendations while modeling instructional best practices.
- Develop professional learning plans and implement strategies to support clients throughout their journey, from initial interest to renewal.
- Prepare presentations to include account set-up verification, confirming session learning outcomes and expectations for teachers and administrators, personalization of delivery materials, and confirmation of travel.
- Submit training requests, update and maintain customer records with session summaries and recommendations for next steps.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Customer Service and Sales, and respond to internal and external customer communication as part of a matrixed service team.
- Engage in a solutions-focused Professional Learning Community where the Professional Learning Specialist (PLS) will be both a learner and a leader; continuously hone the craft by sharing best practices and learning new skills and approaches to deliver professional learning with impact.
- Manage multiple districts and additional projects simultaneously while focusing on forecasted delivery of services reflecting seasonal deviations of activity.
- Maintain the ability and availability to work flexible hours and travel, including overnight travel up to 3 nights per week when needed (which will increase to 90% or 4-5 nights at seasonal peaks); driving and maintaining a valid Motor Vehicle Driver License in state of residence and an acceptable driving record.
- Fulfill any other responsibilities as needed to support team objectives.
- Other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant field, and at least 5 years’ experience with blended and/or online learning; or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in education, Educational Technology or a relevant field is preferred.
- Current teaching certification or prior teaching experience is required.
- Experience with supplemental products (Edgenuity, Imagine Language & Literacy, Imagine Math, Imagine My-Path (Math & Reading), Imagine Espanol, etc.) is strongly preferred for roles designated as Professional Learning Specialist.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom and Teams.
- Experience delivering successful professional development, training, and/or consulting services in an educational environment.
