The Department of Kinesiology offers undergraduate concentrations leading to a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, including Applied Exercise Science, Allied Health, and Physical Activity Leadership. Concentrations prepare students for careers in corporate fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and for graduate study in athletic training, exercise science, physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, or related fields. The department also offers a Master of Science in Kinesiology through the Office of Extended Education.

The Department of Kinesiology at CSU Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for a pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across campus, with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a full semester. This pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

Applications in this pool are valid for the current academic year. The pool will be closed effective May 31st; to be considered for the next academic year, applicants should apply to the new pool when it becomes available (by June 15th).

Minimum Qualifications

• For physical activity class lecturers:
  Certification in a specialty such as personal training, fitness instructor, skilled activity instruction (e.g., swimming, Yoga, etc.), strength and conditioning, and exercise specialist
• For kinesiology undergraduate and laboratory lecturers: A Bachelor s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field
• For Athletic Training lecturers:
  Current NATA certification
• Demonstrated ability/potential to provide high-quality education to a diverse student population, including first-generation and under-represented college students
• For kinesiology master s degree courses: doctoral degree or master s degree with substantial teaching or scholarship experience or professional certification
