Basic Function:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment; assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans as required;

Representative Duties:
Essential Duties:
- Assist instructional personnel with planning, organization, and health care activities with children experiencing various physical and learning disabilities.
- Monitor and assist children in a variety of self-help activities including toileting.
- Be knowledgeable in methods, techniques, and procedures for lifting and moving children who require assistance.
- Assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other environment; monitor and oversee student drills. Practices and assignments in assigned subjects; confer with teacher concerning lesson plans and materials to meet student needs.
- Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework and projects in assigned subject areas; assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures; assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance.
- Read books to students and observe their reading abilities as assigned; assist students with letter and word pronunciation and recognition as required; asst students with spelling and writing exercises and assignments.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities such as preparing, typing, duplicating, and filing instructional materials; received telephone calls; grade student's tests and assignments and record grades as required.
- Explain and assure student understanding of classroom assignment and homework instructions; assist assigned teacher with the implementation of lesson plans.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED - Resume Verification of one (1) of the following:
- 48 semester college units or Associate's Degree or higher or Paraprofessional Assessment Certificate Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and qualified candidates may be invited to interview prior to the Final date to receive applications.
