Position:

Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) for Mathematics

Position Overview:The Department of Mathematicsis seeking Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) applicants for the mathematics program.

The department is seeking qualified students for grading positions as Instructional Student Assistant for courses that are appropriate in our curriculum in any given semester. Students need to apply each semester. Faculty recommendations are welcomed.

Anticipated Appointment Dates
:

This position is open until it is filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available, you will be notified.

  • Fall 2026:August 17, 2026 – December 19, 2026
  • Spring 2027:January 20, 2027 – May 26, 2027
  • Hours: 0-20 hours per week.

Job Duties
may include the following, but will be dependent upon the specific course to which the instructional student assistant will be assigned, as well as upon the specific needs of the faculty member in charge of the course:

  • Provide instructional support to assigned instructors in mathematics by grading papers in a variety of mathematics courses or facilitating group work and discussions.
  • Assist the instructor in lab/activity sessions, and/or perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair in consultation with an appropriate faculty member.
  • Department’s website management.
  • Perform individual and/or group academic support

  • Must have completed courses with a B or higher in which opening exists.

Preferred Qualifications
:

  • Solid writing and speaking skills.
  • Solid study skills and time management skills.

  • Salary:
    Each department has different salary scales. Please check with your department for your Base Salary. The Salary range for Instructional Student Assistants starts at $17.86 per an hour.
  • Assignments:
    Assignments are made by the Department Chair or Program Coordinator after consultation with the candidate.
  • Duties Form:
    Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Unit 11 , a Duties Form (see Appendix E of the CBA) will be completed between the Department and Academic Student Employee. This form substantiates the jobs included for the department Instructional Student Assistant position.
