Department Information:
The Department of Kinesiology is part of the College of Social Sciences and Education which also houses the Departments of Advanced Educational Studies, Anthropology, Criminal Justice, Ethnic Studies, Human Development/Child/Adolescent/ Family Studies, Liberal Studies, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. The college offers programs for teacher education, social work, and behavioral sciences. The Kinesiology Department offers a variety of undergraduate degree concentrations leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.

The different concentrations include Applied Exercise Science, Allied Health, and Physical Activity Leadership.

Position

Description:

The Department of Kinesiology at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers.

Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st.

If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • For physical activity class lecturers:
    Certification in a specialty such as personal training, fitness instructor, skilled activity instruction (e.g. swimming, Yoga, etc.), strength and conditioning, and exercise specialist
  • For kinesiology undergraduate and laboratory lecturers: A Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field
  • For Athletic Training lecturers:
    Current NATA certification
