Instructional Student Assistants for Computer Science
Position:
Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) for Computer Science
Position Overview:
The Department of CEECS is seeking Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) applicants for the Computer Science program.
Anticipated Appointment Dates:
This position is open until it is filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available, you will be notified.
Fall 2026:
August 17, 2026 – December 19, 2026
Spring 2027:
January 20, 2027 – May 26, 2027
Hours:
0-20 hours per week.
Job Duties may include the following, but will be dependent upon the specific course to which the instructional student assistant will be assigned, as well as upon the specific needs of the faculty member in charge of the course:
- Provide instructional support to assigned instructors in Computer Science by grading papers in a variety of computer science courses or facilitating group work and discussions.
- Assist the instructor in lab/activity sessions, and/or perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair in consultation with an appropriate faculty member.
- Maintain/submit students' records/grades.
- Canvas management.
- Perform individual and/or group academic support
Qualifications:
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Must have completed courses with a B or higher in which opening exists.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence built on merit, talent, diversity, accessibility, and equal opportunity for all.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a welcoming learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum Mathematics GPA 3.0
- Solid writing and speaking skills.
- Solid study skills and time management skills.

Instruction Student Assistant additional information regarding assignment:
- Evaluations: ISA's may be evaluated per CBA, Unit 11, Article 8
- Salary:
Each department has different salary scales. Please check with your department for your Base Salary. The Salary range for Instructional Student Assistants starts at $17.86 per an hour. - Assignments:
Assignments are made by the Department Chair or Program Coordinator after consultation with the candidate. - Duties Form:
Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Unit 11, a Duties Form (see Appendix E of the CBA) will be completed between the Department and Academic Student Employee. This form substantiates the jobs included for the department Instructional Student Assistant position. - Instructional Student Assistant positions are for matriculated students at CSUB.
- Students are limited to 20-hours of part-time work on campus.
