Department Information:
California State University's Department of Music and Theatre is housed in the College of Arts and Humanities on the campus of California State University, Bakersfield. The Music Program offers a BA in Music and a BM in Music in Music Education. The Theatre Program offers a BA in Theatre.

The Department of Music and Theatre at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers for the following programs:

    • Mariachi Ensemble
    • Studio Instruction
    • Music Education
    • Music History
    • Music Theory
  • Theatre:
    • Beginning Acting
    • Art of Presentation
    • Dramatic Activity for the Classroom

Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31, 2027.

If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15, 2027.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the position.
