Geography Instructor – Part-time Adjunct Pool

Salary: $67.00 hourly

Responsibilities

  • Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
  • Engage effectively with students who have a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Develop curriculum, including delivery via different modalities.
  • Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Use computers and explore new technologies that benefit the program.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the California community college mission.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in geography.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in geography AND a Master’s in geology, history, meteorology, or oceanography.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field. Equivalent qualifications must be submitted through the Application for Equivalence process.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community‑college students.
  • Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized credential‑evaluation service.

Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, Inc. (ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the application.
