Job Title
Qualifications:
This position requires knowledge of proper English usage, and grammar; pertinent academic areas and learning situations; general understanding of the needs and behaviors of high school students with special needs. Must possess the skill to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner; understand the needs of high school special needs students to effectively relate to these needs in a positive manner;
analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; effectively supervise students in any type of vehicle for long periods of time; maintain a calm and professional manner in stressful situations; learn the requirements of the students in the specific learning/training program(s) to which assigned; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Must be able to assist students in entering and exiting a vehicle; assist physically handicapped students in toileting needs; ensure that proper safety equipment is used and in place; assist in implementation of I.E.P. related or relevant to transportation issues; administer first aide and/or CPR to student(s) as needed. Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties.
May require the skill to speak, read, and write a specified foreign language. Special training in supervision, lifting, and observation techniques may be required. A pre-employment medical assessment and a criminal history check will be required of the successful candidate prior to employment.
Duties of Position:
To ride in any type of vehicle for driver support and supervision of student(s). Employees in this classification receive general supervision from school site and/or District level administrators within the framework of standard policies and procedures. This job classification is responsible for the supervision of student(s) in a vehicle for the safe transport of student(s) to and from assigned school and/or program sites.
