Job SummaryThe Staff Geologist researches, compiles, and authors technical reports for underground injection control (UIC) applications and other oil and gas regulatory projects. The candidate must possess strong communication skills and is capable of working efficiently with limited supervision.
Duties / Responsibilities- Manage projects effectively, including budgets, resources, and client expectations / deadlines.
- Coordinate with clients to determine project scope and deliverables.
- Conduct technical analyses, including the determination of reservoir properties, geologic mapping, basic engineering calculations, and conduit analysis of wellbore diagrams.
- Build 2D geologic models using relevant software.
- Draft technical reports.
- Thorough knowledge of California oil and gas regulations.
- Very strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong technical writer.
- Ability to work individually and in a team.
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Willing to research and learn new skills.
- Experience using relevant software (Petra, ArcGIS, etc.)
- BS in Geology or Earth Science required.
- Two to ten years’ experience in oil and gas development or regulatory geology.
- Prior consulting experience is preferred.
Ability to frequently move about inside the office. Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Ability to work outdoors, in varying temperature conditions. Must be able to move items up to 25 lbs.
