Position: IS Technician

Job Overview

HPC Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is looking for a Line Locator in Bakersfield / San Ardo, CA. Detect and locate underground utilities for clients to prevent damage to existing infrastructures.

Working Environment:
Industrial setting – Refinery, Petrochemical, Utilities, etc.

Position Located In:
Bakersfield / San Ardo, CA.

Work Schedule:

Dependent on contracts with customers.

Pay Range: $14.42 - $28.85 hourly.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Access pipeline maps and familiarize self with locations, plans and layout of job to meet Federal Guidelines and Standards.
  • Survey site for hazards and consult with client on job specifics.
  • Write up hazard assessment for each specific job and location.
  • Consult database for existing line locating sketches.
  • Proceed to locate all known underground utilities.
  • Conduct a four‑way blind scan for unknown underground utilities.
  • Mark all signals found on site.
  • Update line locator sketches or draw up new ones.
  • Walk through with inspector/client.
  • Sign off on all hazard assessments and job activities.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment.
  • Update backup database files and initiate all billing requirements.
  • Keep current with updated detection technology and locating procedures.
  • Train and supervise new line locators.
  • Promote the Locating Services and other Services offered by Clean Harbors.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management and required by Clean Harbors business needs.
Qualifications
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to maintain effective relationships.
  • Strong sense of urgency, initiative and judgment with ability to work in a demanding, fast‑paced environment handling multiple priorities.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work independently and in a team environment.
